The Greg Smith Leadership in Action Award was founded in 2023 in honor of Greg's legacy. Greg Smith has given so much to Farm Bureau Insurance of Michigan and was the creator of the Directors Cup award. The Directors Cup is 12 of the top agents from each region on a team competing together against the other three regions. Steve has been on a Directors Cup team 12 times and has won the competition two times.
To Greg a great leader is someone who builds relationships, gives time to others, has inner drive, common sense, humility, grind, grit, a long perspective view, self-awareness, authenticity, maturity, faith, confidence, and integrity. Each year this award will be given out at the Directors Cup to an agent who demonstrates these characteristics.
Steve has been described by his managing partners as a leader, selfless, a great mentor, a role model, positive, encouraging, humble, grateful, and someone who loves his family and his community. Steve is so honored to be the first recipient of this award. The Directors Cup consists of an impressive group of leaders and it is truly an honor for Steve to win this award.
